About the String Mamas
The String Mamas delight audiences with uplifting songs about life and loving the ones you’re with. Sarah Foard on fiddle with Sarah Fridrich on vocals and ukulele these energetic mom-musicians create a whimsical vibe with clever and fun versions of classic tunes! They infuse Golden Era jazz and swing with old-time and bluegrass sounds, and they make unique acoustic arrangements of pop, folk, & rock favorites.
Coming from diverse backgrounds and years of professional music training, the two Arlington, Virginia musicians found themselves playing together for fun during the pandemic, on Sarah Fridrich’s screened in porch. The two friends each have young families, so they’re mutual need for musical company and commiseration around parenting was well served by making music together on weekday mornings when they had time away from their kids. Bringing the spirit of celebration and relaxed enjoyment to others soon became a goal.
Now, they love to perform for laid back audiences at backyard parties, for passers by at farmer’s markets (or metro stations), and at cozy, acoustic concert venues.
