Violin & Fiddle Lessons
Violin and Fiddle Lessons with Sarah Foard
Suzuki Violin and O'Connor Fiddle
Sarah teaches an active studio of students ranging from 5 years old through adults. She teaches a unique blend of Suzuki Violin Method as well as the O'Connor Fiddle Method, both of which she has certifications in. Through this combination, Sarah's students not only learn excellent classical technique and tone, but they also learn fun fiddle tunes!
As a Suzuki teacher, Sarah truly believes in the philosophy that Every Child Can. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Sarah has taught countless children and many adults. She listens intentionally to each student's goals and desires, and helps them reach their potential, whether it is playing music with friends, working on nailing the next orchestra audition, or studying to become a professional player. Sarah can help students achieve their goals.
Sarah encourages all students to participate in their school orchestra and to play music with friends. Her program includes bi-monthly group classes for school-aged students to develop community and to give students ensemble experience. Many of Sarah's students also play in regional youth orchestras which further strengthens their musicianship and technique.
Sarah's passion is in sharing her favorite fiddle tunes with her students. She goes to various traditional music camps and festivals each year, learning new tunes so that she can share them with her students.
Student Performances
Student Performances
Recitals | Outreach Concerts | Square Dances | Chamber Music Sessions
In Sarah's studio, students have a variety of performance opportunities. The year starts with a Halloween recital. This is the most unique and creative recital where we explore various ways music can be expressed and experienced. In past recitals, we have set music to film, we have experimented with lighting and shadows, and of course, students can come in costume if they choose! In December, students celebrate with a holiday play-along, and we often share our music at a local retirement home or hospital. In the spring, students rosin up their bows to play fiddle tunes for the annual Square Dance! Students play their latest to tappers while dancers line up to do the Virginia Reel or the Heel Toe Polka. The year finishes with a beautiful spring recital where students have the opportunity to play their most polished solo from the year or perform in a chamber ensemble. Sarah's recitals are always accompanied by professional pianists or a professional band.
