    Tiered Tuition

    Sliding Scale

L'Adoré Studio offers a sliding scale for tuition costs for all in-person lessons. The chart here shows suggested tuition based on family income. Using the tired tuition is entirely option, and if a family decides not to choose a tier, they will be automatically billed the Standard Tuition rate. A family's income will never be asked, and all students will be given the opportunity to adjust their tuition level at the beginning of each semester.

    Mary Shep Mann Scholarship

    Merit and Need Based Scholarship

L’Adoré Studio is pleased to offer the Mary Shep Mann Scholarship to one student per year for in-person lessons. It will go to a student who has been nominated or recommended by their school orchestra teacher. This is a need based and merit based scholarship, which covers 50-100% of private lesson tuition.

Mary Shep Mann (1905-2010), was an accomplished pianist and a piano professor at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. Her passion was playing with vocalists and she accompanied opera singers as they auditioned for the Metropolitan Opera. She also performed regularly with Jane Hobson Shephard and Leo Imperi, both singers and beloved friends. She studied pedagogy at Julliard in NYC and piano and composition at Fontainebleau outside of Paris. Mary Shep was one of the most spirited people a person could meet. She lived to be 104 years old, and even in her old age, she could play a mean game of bridge and bake the most delicious strawberry-rhubarb pie. She taught her students with discipline and love.

Mary Shep Mann, aka “Dede” was Sarah Foard’s great-grandmother and most influential music teacher. Sarah practiced the violin with Dede every day of her childhood. Dede taught Sarah music, discipline, and how to love life. One of her life’s mottos was “Life is like a piano. What you get out of it depends on how you play it.”
